Dry Cupping

Dry Cupping also referred to as Myofascial Cupping, dates back to the early 19th century and is a traditional therapeutic modality rooted in Chinese medicine. It involves placement of cups on the skin, creating suction to decompress painful or injured areas.

What is Dry Cupping

The vacuum effect lifts the skin and underlying soft tissues, increasing blood circulation, promoting healing, and facilitating cell repair by improving blood flow. Additionally, it reduces tension and spasms within muscles and soft tissue structures, decreasing pressure on pain receptors, and aiding in the relief of pain and discomfort. Cups can be made from glass, silicone or plastic and can be used both at rest and with movement, with application times typically lasting just a few minutes.

You may have noticed athletes with circular bruise-like marks or raised circles on their body’s, particularly the back and shoulders – these marks are likely from dry cupping therapy. While dry cupping is generally safe, it may not be suitable for everyone. Individuals with certain medical conditions, such as skin conditions, haemophilia, or pregnancy, should consult with their therapist before undergoing cupping therapy.

How this service can help?

Improved Circulation & Healing

The suction created by cupping promotes better blood circulation, which can enhance oxygen and nutrient delivery to tissues, supporting improved healing times.

Relaxation & Stress Reduction

The therapeutic effects of cupping extend to the nervous system, promoting relaxation and reducing stress by calming the central nervous system.

Detoxification

Cupping therapy is believed to help the body eliminate toxins, waste products and cellular debris by improving lymphatic circulation.

Pain Relief

Dry cupping can alleviate musculoskeletal pain and discomfort by improving blood flow to affected areas, reducing inflammation and swelling, relaxing tense muscles and decreasing pressure on pain receptors.

Enhanced Range
of Motion

By releasing muscle tension and fascial restrictions, cupping can contribute to improving flexibility and increasing joint range of motion.

In safe hands from day one…

“I highly recommend Luke. I personally have a complicated history of injuries and don’t always feel confident in putting my trust in a therapist, but I can honestly say my massage was fantastic, totally tailored to my needs. I will definitely be going back very soon for another session.”
